REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Athletic Director Report

June 11, 2012

 

1.        Sports

a.        Football

           i.      Jamboree at Woodland on Saturday, June 9.

b.        Trap Club

           i.      Just received a grant from the NRA for over $3000 worth of ammunition.

c.        Equestrian

           i.      Numerous team members placed in the top 20 at districts. Miranda Monfort and Brittney Williams both qualified for state.

d.        Girls' Golf

           i.      Won the district title for the second year in a row.

e.        Track

           i.      Brianne Koering (5th in discus) and Zach Lacey (6th in shot put) were our two state placers.

 

2.        Professional Development (Coaching Staff)

a.        PCA Grant has officially been awarded  ($900 value).

b.        Coaches are scheduled to take part in training this summer.

 

3.        Other...

a.        W Club A.O.Y. Banquet was held Tuesday, May 29 in the commons.

           i.      The banquet went very well. Over 200 people attended and guest speaker Scott Westering was a big hit.

           ii.      Kelly Nigro and Adam Shoup were named WHS Athletes of the Year.

b.        The miracle league event on June 2 was a big success. WHS students, student athletes and coaches took part in a very rewarding day of baseball for special needs kids.

c.        The basketball program is bringing a shooting specialist in from Wisconsin on July 10. Sixty boy and girl basketball players in grades 5-12 will be attending.

d.        Summer programs are underway for a lot of our teams. Coaches and athletes are working together and working hard to prepare for next season.

e.        Head coaches are working together to provide summer strength, speed and agility workouts for all of our athletes. Workouts begin June 18 and go through August 16 (9-10:30am, M-Th).
