Re: May Review
Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.
Monday's: We used three Monday's to prepare and review our school improvement plan and work on department collaboration. Nothing out of the ordinary, but spending time on the school improvement plan and our goals was helpful. The last Monday of the month we met was used to report out how each of our goal teams were doing.
Other information: Dan and I spend quite a bit of time this month with staff working on year end evaluations. This always is a good time to reflect on good teaching practices and how to improve our skills. Although the new process added quite a few more meetings and time, we believe it was beneficial and productive. The annual Art fest was again excellent with many amazing displays of art. The drama productions were tremendous this month as were the band and choir concerts...and Hot Chili, Cool Jazz.
We are preparing for life at WHS without a few of our mainstay teachers. We will officially say goodbye to Jim Youman, Steve Smith and Joanne Rooney on June 14th at a luncheon hosted by Dan and I. But as their tenure comes to an end, I believe it is important to thank them for all of their dedication to the students of WHS.
EOC: We had the math and science end of course exams right at the end of the month of May. I wanted to give my math teachers a "shout out" for all of their work in getting students here at school that day and to the correct rooms. We had over 320 students testing and their help is appreciated.
