Approval of Letter of Support for the Port of Woodland Project

The Port of Woodland is submitting an application for CRISI funds for the Austin Point Rail and Whalen Road overpass for engineering and NEPA funding. The project incorporates the rail loop, side rail track as well as eliminating the at-grade crossing at Whalen where the Aho construction development traffic will likely meet the railroad tracks. They are asking for letters of support for their project and have requested one from the School District. 

This project will stand to help the school district in at least two ways: 

1. it will improve the safe transit of students across the rail tracks by eliminating an at-grade crossing.
2. As the area is developed it is anticipated that the represented industries will dramatically increase the Taxable Assessed value in the School District which will result in lower taxes for residents.
