1. HS Girls' Basketball
a. Varsity record 6-2 (league), 14-6 (overall) - finished second in league.
i. Team is hosting a district playoff game vs. North Thurston on Feb. 10 at 7pm.
b. JV record is 0-8 (league), 2-18 (overall)
2. HS Boys' Basketball
a. Varsity record 1-7 (league), 6-14 (overall)
b. JV record is 0-8 (league), 7-13 (overall)
3. HS Wrestling
a. The team did well at sub regionals and will be sending 9 athletes to regionals Feb. 11 at Centralia.
i. Andrew Bosch (106) and Zach Wardle (220) won their weight classes at sub regionals. Woodland finalists Lane Newbern (120), Caleb Kaiser (132) and Nathan Patterson (138) will join the two Beaver champions and third-place finishers Zac Seevers (145) and Ryan Forcier (114) at regionals. Jared Newberg (106) and Austin Reynolds (152) are regional alternates for Woodland.
4. HS Swimming
a. Josh Risley is competing for WHS at Swimming districts at Mark Morris Feb. 10 and 11.
5. MS Boys' Basketball
a. 8th grade record (1-2)
b. 7th grade record (3-0)
c. Blended record (2-1)
6. Current News...
a. The Woodland Trap Team had their first competition in Wenatchee on Feb. 4.
i. 9 Shooters made the trip, and the kids did quite well - bringing home numerous medals.
ii. Kick-eez (The #1 kick pad producer in the world - which happens to be located in Woodland) is sponsoring our team - providing each team member with custom kick pads for their gun and numerous other items.
b. We are officially moving to 1A classification next year. We will be the 2nd largest 1A in the state. Errors in calculating repeat freshman and out of district alternative school students are what caused our previous count to be inaccurate.
c. The mountain biking team has had their first practice (practices are at the Woodland Winter Track). Currently the team has two members.
i. The team is being coached by volunteer coach (and Woodland resident) Gary Williams
d. We have received a $4000 archery grant, and will begin a P.E. unit next fall in archery at the middle school.
i. Cheryl Nesbitt will be getting trained as one of the requirements of the grant.
ii. Eventual goal is to create enough interest in the sport to form a competitive team for our school - there is a competitive league amongst high schools.
e. Steve Hansen abruptly retired from his Head Track Coach position after over 40 years coaching track at Woodland. His total coaching experience was 49 years.
