Re:      December and January Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning the last two months.

Monday's: Over the last two months, we had 5 Monday's for staff development. One of the Monday's was for the new "staff controlled" day by contract.  We used that Monday to have a wonderful breakfast served by Grace Community church.  This was great fellowship and quality time as a staff used this day to ease into Christmas break.  The other 4 Monday's were used to work on the curriculum handbook, finalize common assessments for finals and to prepare of Navigation lessons.

Finals:  Finals went well with a high percentage of student attendance for the tests and a very serious tone was felt throughout the high school.  It was wonderful how the Middle School used the same schedule this year, so our shared staff were not pulled in so many directions.

Other information: As you are aware, we held Challenge Day in January.  This was another powerful and moving day for many of our staff and students.  It should be noted that our club "Be the Change" is active and is already planning additional follow up activities.  We have also been busy registering seniors to vote!   We are just now turning in semester grades therefore we will use that data to help us analyze how well our new advisory program is working.
