RE: Athletics Report
Spring sports have begun, and we have a great student turnout for each program. Earlier this week, Principal Pearson hosted a spring athletics parent meeting, where coaches engaged with both teams and parents to outline the upcoming seasons and set clear expectations.
Melanie Holmes, an expert in this area who graciously invested countless hours to make it happen, has cleared and confirmed the athletes as eligible.
Assistant Principal Mike Lindsay has worked out all the spring sports schedules. To mitigate weather-related disruptions, I have allocated time in my schedule during home games to monitor forecasts closely. In collaboration with WHS staff stationed onsite to assess field conditions, decisions will be made in consultation with coaches, with timely notifications relayed by our athletic secretary in the event of rainouts. While acknowledging that our current approach may not be flawless, it represents the most effective solution available in the absence of an Athletic Director.
We’d also like to announce that Jodi McLendon has joined the Athletic Director team. She has quickly and expertly learned how to navigate all our athletic platforms to ensure that communications and operations run smoothly. We are so grateful for her support.
