RE: Yale Elementary Board Report

School Improvement Focus:

Like the other schools absenteeism continues to be a real problem for some of the students at Yale.  Lindsay Noble and the Yale School team continue to be very engaged in efforts to encourage regular attendance. Since the pandemic, this continues to be one of the more persistent problems and has a significant impact on student performance. We are seeing significant performance gaps at Yale between regular attendees and those with high absenteeism.

Currently, we are in the process of completing mid-year benchmark testing for Yale students.  We do not have full results yet but are pleased with the results we have seen thus far. Most students are continuing to show good growth.

Yale Staff Recognition- Teaming to support students:

The staff at Yale School are an amazing bunch. They understand that a small school only operates well if everyone is moving in the same direction. There have been some challenges in the last few months. Transitions in Cook/Custodian (a key position), and profoundly difficult losses among staff.  The entire team steps up, leans in, and ensures students are consistently supported.

Upcoming Events:

  • March 26-28 — Parent Teacher Conferences
  • June 4 — Whole school field trip to Portland Zoo
  • June 14 — Field Day
