RE: North Fork Elementary School Update

  • February 20th - 23rd was another successful Kids at Hope Week! We started off the week with our Community and Service Day. Students heard Donny from Daddy D’s speak about his nonprofit, Dreams for Life, and the importance of giving back to the community. One of our students who had helped package meals for the homeless was recognized. We also celebrated families at our Spaghetti and Bingo night and then ended the week with Education and Career Day. Students had the opportunity to hear about different careers from our parents and community members. This week is dedicated to helping students think about their futures and understand how what they do today impacts their tomorrow.
  • Teachers checked in with our Building Leaders about their students’ progress at the mid-year point. We call these CAST meetings where the team is all looking at data and hearing from the teacher about their students. They were asked the following questions: Talk about your biggest data accomplishments. What do you think is contributing to these accomplishments? What data is concerning you? Are there any roadblocks keeping you from getting the results you want? Is there anything our team can do to help support your efforts?

Our teachers are working hard to support and ensure student growth. There was a lot of data to celebrate, as well as problem-solving solutions for the lack of instructional intervention support.

  • Our Instructional Coach, Malinda Huddleston, completed all of our Highly Capable testing. All 2nd and 4th graders were screened, as well as any nominations by families and or teachers. Our HiCap 3rd and 4th graders just completed a unit on stop motion animation using robots. I’ve included some pictures of their work.
  • We celebrated Valentine’s Day, the 100th day of school, and meeting our school-wide PBIS goal. It was a very busy month!
