ELL/State Transitional Bilingual Intervention Program and Translation Services

• Outreach: We are excited to welcome our elementary students to in-person instruction full time and our secondary students to begin hybrid instruction. Esmeralda and Maribel are teaming up with Eric Jacobson to make sure communication gets out to our ELL families with updated information. 

• K-4 ELL: During hybrid learning students from Columbia and North Fork Elementary Schools have been participating together in Google Meets to practice their speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills. They have been able to develop relationships electronically with students and staff from across the district while working on language acquisition skills. 

• WMS ELL: Over 30 ELL WMS students are attending small groups 2-3 days a week. Students are receiving accommodations and assistance in their CORE classwork. By having this intervention, students are able to stay caught up on their classwork and receive help! Our WMS staff connect with ELL families weekly to keep them updated on student progress and work with CORE teachers to plan and set goals for students to achieve academic success.

• WHS ELL: This year at the high school we have four seniors in the ELL program. They have completed their culminating project and soon will do their final presentation. This is a great team effort and collaboration with our teachers and counselors. Our “ELL Bubble” groups have provided ELL students with opportunities to get additional support throughout this school year and it has had a significant positive impact on their academic achievement.
