CALL TO ORDER
President Janice Watts called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS
There were no citizen’s requests to comment on non-agenda items.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Director Donald moved to approve the minutes from April 24, 2017, and May 8, 2017.

REPORTS TO THE BOARD
Student Representative Report: Jamie commended all the students that participated in the school play for a job well done. Jamie then wanted to thank the high school teachers for encouragement to help keep students focused during these last couple of weeks.
Facilities Report: Director Donald is proud to see all the great projects that the facility department has done and the future plans.
Teaching and Learning Report: Director Beuscher asked for more clarification on the appeal of science assessment scores and whether they would be done in time for students who missed passing the assessment to walk at graduation. Superintendent Michael Green shared that there is not a clear deadline the appeals to the State are still pending.
CORRESPONDENCE
There was no correspondence.
BOARD REPORTS, REQUESTS AND COMMENTS
Director Matt Donald asked about road conditions and impacts to pupil transportation on the newly reopened to Yale. Director Madsen said the road was open again and just a short section is one lane only.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
First Reading of New Policy No. 5011: The board reviewed this policy which will be presented for second reading and approval at next month’s board meeting.
First Reading of New Policy No. 4217: The board reviewed this policy which this policy will be presented at next month’s meeting for second reading and approval.
First Reading of Revisions to Policy No. 3246: Director Madsen asked if this policy was a recommendation from WSSDA. Superintendent Green replied yes with a few recommendations by Deb Kernen. This policy will be presented at next month’s meeting for second reading and approval.
First Reading of Revisions to Policy No. 3230: This policy was presented a second time for first reading following board requested a revision, adding rights of students and the District relative to student cars on school property. This policy will be presented at next month’s meeting for second reading and approval.
First Reading of WSSDA Recommended Policy Updates: Board members reviewed the changes and all policies will be presented for second reading and approval.
CONSENT AGENDA
Director Matt Donald moved to approve the consent agenda.
ACTION ITEMS
Woodland High School Trust Fund Scholarships: Director Madsen shared the vision of the scholarship funds for this year and moving forward. His request to the board was to approve 6 scholarships at $2,500.00 each. After some discussion, Director Donald made a motion to hand out 10 scholarships this year at $2,500.00 each. Director Madsen seconded the motion.
Director Beuscher moved to approve the KNOW curriculum videos.
Director Donald moved to approve the textbook adoption of The Language of Composition.
Director Madsen moved to approve the Resolution 17-5 and MOU.
Director Donald moved to approve the Second Reading and Approval of Policy No. 1400.
Director Donald moved to approve the Second Reading and Approval of Policy No. 3416.
Director Beuscher moved to approve the Second Reading and Approval of Additions, deletions, and modifications to policies 4000-4330.
2017-2018 Student Meal Prices: Lan Ha explained the minimum price increases were based on calculations from OSPI. Director Donald asked Lan Ha and Stacy Brown for details concerning lunch shaming and what our buildings process is to prevent this from happening. Stacy explained that all students K-8 can eat regarding of the balance on their food service account. Food service staff don’t handle money or discuss account balances with students. Director Stuart moved to approve the 2017-2018 Student Meal Prices.
