WIS Leadership Camp
Woodland Intermediate School Leadership Camp for designed for incoming Second Graders. This will be a great opportunity for selected students to become familiar with the new building, build relationships with key staff members, and relieve anxiety about the transition to a new school. They will also learn and practice the Woodland Way (the set of school-wide expectations) and social skills that promote social, emotional and academic success. Using the Mind Up and Zones of Regulation curriculums, they will focus on learning the skills research has shown to foster social and emotional awareness, enhance psychological well-being, and promote academic success: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making. They will begin each morning in a community building circle, then rotate in small groups through stations for crafts, games, and skill instruction. They will have a structured game or team building activity to foster physical activity and healthy play with peers each day, as well as a snack. They will close each day back in the community circle to give and receive complements and appreciations. This camp is designed for students coming out of first grade that has shown behavioral concerns during the year.
Students will attend August 7-August 24, from 9:00-11:30. The following staff will be teaching:

WMS Summer Literacy Camp
Summer Literacy Academy (SLA) is designed for current 4th grade ELL students to further develop English reading and writing skills. Student selection is based on ELPA 12 (state assessment for ELL’s), classroom performance and testing throughout the year. This will be a great opportunity for selected students to become familiar with the new building, build relationships with key staff members, and relieve anxiety about the transition to a new school. Students will attend M-F from 8:30-11:45, July 24-Aug. 14. Students will receive bussing and free lunch. The following staff will be teaching:
