RE: Summary of Teaching and Learning - WMS
Woodland Middle School English and mathematics teachers participated in professional development over the summer working with the instructional coaches to make curricular alignments to the common core. This is work that will continue over the course of the academic year as well.
Woodland High School and Middle School staff are uitilizing Monday professional development time to learn about the Common Core State Standards, brain research and how it impacts student learning, and collaboratively planning performance tasks 7-12.
WMS will host fall student-led-conferences October 20-31. Students have been working at setting academic goals for the year. Parents are also able to schedule wraparound conferences with all teachers as well.
There are several new staff faces at WMS this year including a brand new front office staff. Please feel free to stop b y and welcome them to the district.
