This month I want to highlight an ELL parent involvement, outreach activity that took place in December for our WPS ELL families. Our ELL teaching team comprised of Carlotta Propersi-ELL teacher, Para Educators-Elayna Bray, Natalia Dittmer, and Dale Hillman hosted a Christmas event that brought in over 100 attendees!! They provided some food, but found so many families just brought in some amazing dishes to share without even being asked!! Activities included a craft station, read alouds, Christmas carol singing and a “photo booth”. Each family received a goody bag and went home with smiles on their faces. Their next family activity will be a “Literacy Night” where they will work with our Learning Coach-Malinda Huddleston to plan activities that will teach families to promote at home reading activities as well as a “Math Night”. This teaching team has done a great job this year teaching the majority of our ELL population-90+ students at WPS!! They are amazing………….
