RE:                 WPS MONTHLY UPDATE

School Improvement Planning Update

Our school development direction as set by our Building Leadership Team will focus in the following areas:

-WPS will incorporate the Common Core Standards, and integrate the new Teacher Evaluation System to support staff learning/growth.

-WPS will implement professional development surrounding “Questioning” strategies and their role in engaging deeper, more meaningful student thinking.

-Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Strategies (PBIS) will be introduced and molded to best support/clarify expectations for our school community.

Several strands of development and resource planning are outlined to support these areas of school improvement.

Thank You Pacific Science Center and PTSA!

Due to a strong, positive presence in and around our schools, our PTSA again this year was able to save enough money to provide a day of the Pacific Science Center at WPS!

This year’s theme was “Engineering,” with a focus on design, test, and redesign processes that are critical to providing us things that “work!”  Students were treated to an all-school assembly, followed by a day of activities and exhibits throughout our school.

Student engagement and intrigue was wonderful to view during this hands-on day of science!

Retiring Staff

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the following long-time WPS Staff who will be retiring at the end of this school year:  Linda Sprague, Mary Franklin, Deana MacPherson, and Susi Pitt-Garland.  Each has served our school and community in so many different ways.  Each is appreciated, and will be missed – and go with our BEST wishes for fulfillment in retirement!
