RE: TEAM HS Board Report
School Improvement Plan
Math achievement and identifying graduation pathways for TEAM students are key parts of this year’s SIP. Recently, both goals were addressed in one swing. Because of WSD’s ongoing, positive relationship with Lower Columbia College, it was possible to identify TEAM High School’s Algebra 2 course as a “transitional” (transition from high school to college) class, meaning that any student who completes the course with a B- or better will have met the graduation pathway requirement in math. This is pretty remarkable, actually, because it means that many more students who graduate from TEAM will have demonstrated strong competency in Algebra 2. This will create new options for TEAM students as they move into the next phase of their journey.
Recognition
I’m a strong believer that any win in a school is a team win. No achievement, no matter how singular or individualized, is ever achieved in isolation. Everyone contributes in their own way. That said, I wanted to extend some special recognition to Catherine Pulliam for establishing the course agreement with LCC I described above, and to Liz Vallaire for her commitment to getting kids through the challenging Algebra 2 curriculum.
Upcoming Events
Christmas break is almost here. We are all looking forward to some extra time with family and friends. We’re thankful for your support as board members as we enter into this season of gratitude.
