RE: Yale Elementary Board Report

School Improvement Plan

We successfully launched the Learning Assistance Program (LAP) early this Fall, which utilizes small intervention groups to deliver focused instruction to students needing supplemental support. A critical component of this program is consistent progress monitoring, and we are thrilled to confirm that these monitoring efforts are already showing substantial progress in both reading and mathematical skills. Every student participating in LAP has demonstrated consistent, positive movement toward achieving their individualized learning targets.

The robust data indicating strong student growth gives us great confidence as we approach our next evaluation period. We are particularly enthusiastic about the results we expect from the Mid-year benchmark assessment, which we are predicting will reflect above-average performance across the board.

To sustain and accelerate this positive momentum, we are moving forward with the full implementation of the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) foundational reading program. We believe this research-based curriculum is key to maximizing student literacy development and are eager to document the significant learning acceleration it will support.

We are highly encouraged by the demonstrable gains our students have made so far and remain optimistic about achieving the ambitious goals outlined in our School Improvement Plan.

RECOGNITION

This academic year, Yale implemented a revised structure for its culinary and custodial staffing designed to optimize both employee engagement and facility maintenance outcomes. This strategic adjustment has yielded significant gains in key areas, including overall employee satisfaction and marked improvements in both indoor cleanliness and outdoor curb appeal.

The core change involved adjusting the primary cook/custodial workday hours to facilitate the integration of dedicated after-school custodial staff. This shift allows for enhanced attention to the school's interior during peak cleaning times and more focused care on the building's exterior and grounds.

We are currently utilizing two existing paraprofessionals to serve as our evening custodial team. Their deep connection to the school community and vested interest in the learning environment have resulted in exceptional professionalism and a high level of performance. I am highly impressed by their diligent efforts to maintain a clean, sanitized, and aesthetically pleasing facility in addition to teaching and supervising our students during the school day. This integrated approach ensures that our campus environment actively supports the educational mission of the school.

Upcoming Events

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) at Yale continues to be a highly dedicated and active partner, focused on enriching the school experience through initiatives that foster a strong sense of community and traditional celebration. This month, the PTO is hosting a special initiative: a Student Christmas Store. This event is designed to promote student agency and the joy of giving by allowing children to independently purchase thoughtful, low-cost gifts for their families. The PTO demonstrates its commitment by strategically purchasing a diverse array of small gifts, which are then intentionally priced at a significantly reduced rate to ensure accessibility for all students. The selection is inclusive, featuring a variety of options, even providing treats for family pets. Furthermore, following their purchases, students are given complimentary wrapping supplies, such as bags and ribbons, to personalize and prepare their gifts, thus creating a complete and memorable, hands-on experience that strengthens the connection between home and school.
