Due to declining wrestler participation numbers, our league has decided to officially include 6th-grade students in our wrestling program. We did it on a trial basis last year and we (WMS) had 8 sixth graders compete, which gave us a team in the low 30s. Sixth graders, as with all middle school wrestlers, compete by weight class and skill level, not by age. That said, typically sixth graders are wrestling against sixth graders.
Athletic Director Paul Huddleston is requesting that we join the rest of our league and officially make the move to include 6th graders in this sport only.
Administrative recommendation/MOTION/" I move we approve adding sixth grade to our middle school wrestling program."
