Hybrid Plus

April 26-30 was the first week of Hybrid Plus. Changes from the schedule that affect the students the most would be operations of Mondays, lunches, and the major change is all the students at the school. On Mondays students that are full-time at the high school just have to fill out an attendance sheet in Google Classroom. All virtual students meet with their teachers to make sure they are filled in and have time to ask any questions they need. During our lunches, we are split up into 4 groups so we can maintain 6 feet of distance while eating. Though we have only 15 minutes to eat, the students are making it work. Teachers are making a great effort of keeping students distanced and having students wear their masks correctly. From a student's perspective Hybrid has mixed feelings. I think at this point in the school year kids are starting to burn out so changes of hybrid aren't as exciting as going back to school for the first time in over a year.

Covid Cases

Tuesday, May 4th students were filled in on positive COVID cases at the school. At first, there were many questions about what the procedure is and how these cases would affect the students. Luckily Dr. Pearson made a quick video that was shown during 5th period answering the most common questions. Some students are a bit anxious since this is only the second week of Hybrid Plus. This news has had some effect on the students because two days after receiving this news there have been some students who have switched back to virtual-only or have attended online classes just because of the anxiety of the situation.

ASB Meeting

  • Lunch concerns

The way lunch operates is different from what it usually is. Before COVID you get your entree and you can pick your fruit, vegetables, and drink. Now when you grab your entree there are pre-made bags that include your drink, fruit, and vegetables. Before COVID, if you got something you didn't want you could put it in a shared bin. Obviously, we can not do this but this has students throwing away perfectly good drinks and food simply because they didn't eat it. This is not only a big waste of food but a big waste of money. Some ideas that have been flown around is maybe a compost pile or a different way lunches are given out

  • ASB  Elections

With the end of the school year sneaking up on us Elections for ASB are coming up. A lot of positions are opening up in ASB as well as re-running for class elections.
