RE: North Fork Elementary Board Report

  • Our annual PTSA Walk-a-Thon was a success. Students weathered some rain and walked for 30 minutes during their specials (music, art, PE, leadership). We had a group of wonderful parent volunteers serving water and giving students their lap bracelets. Funds from the event provide classroom grants for our teachers and building. The students raised a record amount. It was a great event.
  • North Fork Elementary held an Open House this year to explain all our programs to our new and returning families. Families had the opportunity to hear about the curriculum and any special programs their child would be participating in during the year. Teachers appreciated the opportunity to share classroom expectations and how families could support their students. It was a well-attended event.
  • It is Digital Citizenship Week and our students are learning all about how to safely use technology. Our technology teacher, Danielle Flanagan has been sharing tips on our morning announcements, as well as using our Common Sense Media curriculum in her daily lessons.
  • Our PBIS program has a monthly goal for students and a spirit day. This month was “I am a Goal Setter”, and students showed spirit by dressing up as their future jobs. Teachers had the opportunity to have great conversations around careers.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences have been well attended, and early release has given our paras an opportunity to attend district provided training.
