  2. Yellow record (1-2 league)

    2. We are the only school in the league with two 7/8 teams. For splitting into two equal teams, we have been surprisingly competitive.

Combined

MS/HS Cross Country

  1. 26 athletes are participating from the high school and 12 from the middle school.
    1. We have our first home meet on Oct. 10
    2. Coach has the biggest turnout in program history and has a great group of hard working athletes.

MS/HS Boys’ Golf

  1. Varsity record (0-2 league, 0-2 overall)
  2. 9 athletes are participating from the high school and 10 from the middle school
    1. We are in a rebuilding year… this is a very young team. Coach has been very encouraged with work ethic and attitudes and is looking forward to continued growth/progress with this group

Woodland High School

HS Football

  1. Varsity record (1-0 league, 3-0 overall)
    1. 58 athletes participating… we don’t have the numbers for a C team this year.
  2. JV record (1-0 league, 3-0 overall).
    1. The future looks bright! Our JV has been putting up big numbers so far.

HS Volleyball

  1. Varsity record (2-1 league, 4-1 overall).
    1. 31 athletes participating… we have a 3rd team for the first time in over a decade!
    2. Elyse Booker just passed 1000 digs – very rare in the volleyball world (she broke the school record last year).
    3. Taylor Foster just broke the all-time kill and block records.
    4. Our varsity has been invited to an elite tournament in Burlington on Oct. 6
  1. JV record (1-2 league, 2-3 overall).
  2. JV2 record (1-2 league, 2-2 overall).

HS Girls’ Soccer

  1. Varsity record (0-3 league, 3-3 overall)
    1. 34 athletes participating
    2. We are in an extremely tough soccer league. So impressed with the hard work and determination of this group… they’ve shown they can play with anyone. Just need to put it together for an entire game.
  2. JV record (1-3 league, 3-5 overall)

HS Dance and Cheer

  1. Cheer has 13 fall participants
    1. Their back to school performance was top notch. They also did a performance during half time at our first football game (vs Kalama) that received great reviews.
  2. Dance has 9 fall participants
    1. Dance has performed at our back to school assembly, first home game and will perform again this Friday at halftime vs RA Long. The girls are working extremely hard and have really impressed with their performances so far.

Other

  1. Remember that WHS Sports can be followed on Facebook (woodland high school athletics) and Twitter (whsbeavers) – and sports updates will also be available on our school website live feed.
  2. Our league also has a website: 2agshl.com
  3. Our fall captain training was well attended by captains from each fall sport.
    1. This training gives me the opportunity to build relationships with the team leaders of our programs. In addition, I share effective leadership strategies and tools with them – as well as stress the importance of them supporting their coach and their program by always putting the team first.
  4. We will be having our first W Club meeting this month and will be selecting officers. The W Club is a club for all varsity letter winners that focuses on our athletes having a positive impact on our school culture as well as finding ways to increase school spirit and attendance/participation at athletic events.
  5. The head coaches and I met this summer to work on our shared vision, define our core values and create a “brand” that we could all stand for (and behind). See attached. This is what we are about.
