Monthly Update
November, 2011

Throughout the month of November our professional development was aligned with our Schoolwide Plan. Activities have included the distribution of MSP reading and math data, individual classroom analysis, grade level team analysis, and developing plans for addressing weaknesses, strengths, and trends within each grade level.

The 6th grade team spent a full day revising their math standards scope and sequence. This included identifying teaching materials for each unit taught throughout the year. This activity was aligned with our Schoolwide Plan.

Multiple staff members are continuing work focusing on transitioning our grading system to a standard based grading program.

The Think Tank and Fresh Start programs continue to prosper. Students are benefitting from the social and emotional support that these programs provide. Joe Crawford is facilitating weekly meetings with playground staff. The meetings focus on specific student needs and strategies that are intended to set both students and staff up for success on the playground. Mr. Crawford is continuing weekly classroom meetings at grade 4.

Our 4th grade class (largest group in the school) went the entire month of November without a single discipline referral. This was a huge success for our 4th grade students.
