Re:      November Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday's: This Monday was quite the mix of staff development opportunities.  We used one Monday for Navigation 101 training, another for school improvement, one for department collaboration and the final Monday was a district wide training on boundary issues.  It is not ideal to have 4 different activities, but that is how the calendar fell this month.

Other information:  We had our first "official" grade report this month.  We had mixed results in that we still have quite a few students with 2 or more F's, but when we looked more closely at the data we did notice some promising trends including overall GPA on the rise from previous years and fewer 10th graders with 2 or more F's.  Also, we continue to be pleased with the progress of our "at risk" class for 9th graders.  Many of those students are doing much better than then did last year.  We had a nice Veterans Day assembly for all of our students and our kids also did an admirable job with the food drive.

I also wanted to note that Mr. Jason Cowley earned recognition as a Nationally Board Certified teacher this month!  This is a wonderful accomplishment.

All is all it was a good productive month at Woodland High School.
