RE: CTE Report

Here are the highlights from the summer through September:

I attended a WAVA Workshop for directors that have been selected for this year’s internship program Aug. 7th in Spokane. This internship will be a great opportunity for me to learn more about running an effective CTE program as well as a chance for me to network with directors around the state.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, we’ve lost Jennifer Cullison but were fortunate enough to have Nelean Warndahl slide into her position. We’ve already gotten Nelean a conditional CTE certificate, which will give us some time to get her in a CTE Certification program.

At the middle school, Joe Bosch (Horticulture) and Britt Judd (Computer Programming and Robotics) are also conditionally certified and will be enrolling in a certification program. Both will become STEM certified, which will allow us to expand our CTE program at the middle school level.

On Thursday, September 22nd we will be hosting a job fair for all Junior and Seniors from 3:30-6pm. Cowlitz County Goodwill (in partnership with the Woodland Action Center, Workforce SW WA, Woodland Chamber and Worksource) will be hosting this event. This is an opportunity for students and community members to meet with local employers and learn more about career resources in our community. Mary Ann Sturdivan has been working hard to help coordinate this event as well.

On Thursday, September 29th we will be taking a group of students to the Cowlitz County Expo Center for the Construction and Trades Fair.
