ELL/State Transitional Bilingual Intervention Program and Translation Services

I am so pleased to take on leadership for Title III/TBIP and Translation Services! We have a wonderful team, and together we plan to continue assisting our students to be ready for Career, Life and College. I would like to thank Jake Hall for his leadership in this area and for continuing to be a support to me in this transition.

  • ELL “Bubbles”: We continue supporting students by having small groups of ELL students at all levels in our buildings during remote learning. We appreciate the support from our teachers, paraeducators, principals, secretaries, and KWRL as we provide this opportunity for our students while following our COVID-19 protocols to keep staff and students safe.
  • ELPA 21: We are starting to administer ELPA 21 screeners for Kindergarten students. ELPA 21 testing for newcomers in all other grades will begin soon as well.
  • Language Support for Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences were a success! This is collaborative work supported by the secretaries, ELL teachers, and principals in each building to provide access to our Spanish-speaking families.
  • Outreach: Esmeralda Franco and Maribel Ramirez are working on making phone calls and sending forms to our families about the Rotary Giving Christmas Tree. We are glad to continue with this tradition in supporting our families through the holidays.
  • K-4 Hybrid Services: Elementary ELL/LAP groups are a new addition to our services, and we are very excited about the integration of reading intervention and language acquisition! Small group instruction will take place virtually every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during intervention times. In addition, ELL students not receiving services through the dual language program will engage in personalized online instruction through Imagine Learning and participate in Google Meets with our ELL teacher and paraeducators to further develop their language acquisition skills.
