The Yale staff was pleased to meet with Scott Landrigan this month to learn about the many accomplishments the school has already made and discussed further safety plans.
He began with a recap of the many issues that have already been addressed in keeping the school safe. We have a plan for all types of disasters and have instructions and supplies for responding to every type of disaster.
The doors also have been rekeyed to ensure that only approved personnel can access the school.
We are also excited about future plans for improving safety. The school will have 11 cameras around the school and a camera to monitor the front door so people inside the school can see who is outside without risking their own safety.
This summer, the district will replace the fence around the playground to ensure students are in an enclosed space at all times. Finally, the times that the public can access to the weekly public library that is operated by the Vancouver Public Library system in the entry of Yale School will be adjusted until after school hours.
