Director Stuart & Watts volunteered to participate on the Woodland Intermediate School principal selection advisory committee.

Student Board Representative Survey

For the last couple of months, Hannah Landrigan has been busy collecting survey data from the Woodland High School students. She visited every advisory class in efforts to reach each and every student and asked them to provide details of any concerns, questions, issues, or suggestions. Hannah received responses from 300 students and presented a PowerPoint presentation to the school board with the results. There were many different areas commented on by the students, however, two were the definite standouts.

First, the students would like to see an open campus again at WHS. Suggestions were made to have restrictions on this privilege to only allow upperclassman or students with passing grades. Hannah noted that many of the students, including herself, didn’t know why the open campus was removed when the new high school was built.

Second, 75% of the students that commented on advisory would like to see it be removed from their schedules. Comments were noted that students felt it was a waste of time and students would rather have longer class times or a longer lunch. Hannah did note that these survey results were collected before they changed advisory to being credited so some of the students may have changed their option.

The board thanked Hannah for her hard work. Superintendent Green also informed the board that WHS principal, John Shoup, would be meeting with the ASB students on these results, and providing opportunity for increased student voice.   Board President Watts encouraged Hannah to first work with Mr. Shoup to address student concerns.

Board Self-Assessment Survey

All the directors were open to the survey. Superintendent Green will be sending them the information soon.

First Reading of Revisions to Policy 3432-Emergencies

The directors had many questions for Scott Landrigan and are excited to dig deeper into this topic during the April board workshop, Facilities and Safety. With no objections, this policy will be presented for second reading and approval at the next month’s board meeting.

First Reading of New Policy 3423 – Diapering of Students

With no objections, this policy will be presented for second reading and approval at the next board meeting.
