Re:      March Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday’s: We will do a little of everything this month.  We will spend one Monday preparing our staff for the student led conference expectations, one Monday actually conducting student led conferences (3/26), and two Monday’s in department collaboration time.

Other information:  We will be conducting student led conferences next week as well as the final senior culminating project presentations. Once again, we will be inviting parents for both events which is a great opportunity to engage with parents about their child’s academic progress at Woodland HS. Our CTE students and clubs have done quite well recently with students in FBLA, SkillsUSA (culinary) and Floral all finding success at their state level competitions and we have several students advancing to state competitions.  Speaking of state competition, our dance team will be traveling to Yakima to compete in their state competition again this week.

The Walkout:  In case you were not aware, two of our ASB officers led a very respectful event on March 14th. The students read a little biography for each of the individuals who were killed in the Florida school shooting and then finished up with a moment of silence for each.  We had roughly 45 students participate.  All students who were gone from class for more than 10 minutes were marked absent and Dan and I will follow up with any student who requires additional follow up because of continued attendance concerns, as is our normal policy/procedure.
