Declaring Support for New Library Facility in Woodland
WHEREAS, the Woodland Community Library, constructed in 1906, cannot provide the level of service, amenities and technology that our community needs; and,
WHEREAS, our youngest students need access to a larger collection of physical and electronic resources, enhanced early learning programming and technology, and our older students need access to space for gathering and collaboration, and opportunities to interact with modern technology that will enable them to meet the demands of the future; and,
WHEREAS, Woodland residents of all ages and from all walks of life will benefit from a larger, more modern facility, and Woodland suffers from a lack of accessible public space for discourse, adult learning and recreation. From business start-up guidance to adult technology learning opportunities, the Woodland Community Library stands to be able to provide significantly improved library services for Woodland if efforts to construct a modern, accessible and technologically relevant library are realized.; and,
WHEREAS, The School Board recognizes that the Woodland Community Library plays an integral role in the civic fabric of Woodland. The positive impact that the public library is able to have on the lives of our students, their families and the community at large is significantly impaired due to the outdated, inaccessible and cramped nature of the current library building; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodland Public School District Board of Directors is proud to support the efforts of Friends of Woodland Community Library in bringing a larger, more effective library facility to Woodland.
