WSD Athletics Board Report

March 5, 2015

HS Boys’ Basketball

1. Final varsity record (8-4 league, 18-7 overall)

      i.      Finished 2^nd in league

      ii.      Came up one game short of state in heartbreaking loss to Centralia.

      iii.      Jake Rosenbalm and Ryan Sturdivan (1^st team all-league), Troy Flanagan (2^nd), Tanner Froeber and Bryce Mulder (honorable mention)

HS Girls’ Basketball

1. Final varsity record (9-3 league, 13-10 overall).

      i.      Finished 2^nd in league.

      ii.      Lost out in 3^rd round of districts to Black Hills.

      iii.      Jessica Flanagan and Sidra Malik (1^st team all-league), McKenna Mulder (2^nd),  Kendall Grell (honorable mention).

HS Wrestling

1. Injuries down the stretch cost us our 1^st league title in school history.
2. 6 athletes survived regionals and made it to state – highlighted by Nathan Patterson’s regional title. Josh Pratt (3^rd), Jared Cloud (3^rd), Kurtis Patterson (4^th), Isaac Andersen (4^th), Jeff Jackson (4^th) all advanced as well.
3. Nathan Patterson (6^th) and Isaac Andersen (8^th) both placed at state.

MS Boys’ Basketball

1. 8^th grade boys finished their season 8-2, and lost the championship game at the end of season tournament.

Spring Sports are underway!

1. Girls’ Golf – 14 athletes
2. Baseball – 27 athletes
3. Softball -  24 athletes
4. Track and Field – 66 athletes
5. Boys’ Soccer – 36 athletes

     i.      We will be filling our final few spots (36 max) with Kalama kids (they do not have a program).

     ii.      When we were 1A, we couldn’t combine because you have to combine enrollments. Now that we are 2A, we could combine with Kalama and even La Center and still be under the 2A enrollment limit.
