This summer, our HS counselor, Sarah Gray, applied for and received a $10K+ grant to train staff and implement a research proven program focused on reduction of teen pregnancy and STIs.
Currently, in our HS Health classes, the topics of pregnancy, birth control, and STIs are covered. Because of the varying comfort level of staff who teach the content (without an adopted resource, per se), the content students receive varies.
The grant includes training of our HS Health Staff and support for the implementation of the curriculum. Technically, we can do this as a “Pilot” program with simple notification to the board. Given the nature of this program, I think it is most prudent to have the board fully understand the curriculum and process.
