Re:  September Special Services Monthly Update

Seems like all we've been doing in our world these last couple months is hiring......which is always an exciting activity!!  Here is a summary of our work in the special programs department:

First of all, we have 3 new certified staff joining us.  Our new Preschool teacher Carissa Dahl has been busy this summer moving into her new classroom and getting ready to greet our little ones soon.  She comes to us from Vancouver School District.  She will be a great resource for our department as she has been a preschool teacher for a number of years and a regular education teacher as well!! As you know we have also hired our own district Occupational Therapist, Felicity Ottis.  She will be here on Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays.  She is joined by our new Physical Therapist, Ashleigh Stroud from ESD who will join us on Wednesdays once a month.  

We have hired a lot of new IA's that will help support our efforts.  Natalia Dittmer replaces Liz Landrigan in our ELL program at WPS.  Mary Burnett-WIS, Teresa Young-WPS & Cindy Casteel-Yale are joining our Title 1 programs.  Deann Buck will join our crew in WIS resource room and Ryan Sinclair will be at WMS this year.  Jen Benedict is supporting our LAP Math Academy, Gena Sanders brings some wonderful energy to our Special Ed Preschool and Resource Room at WPS and Steven Stone joins Jody Flanagan's resource room at WHS.   We are very excited about having such high quality, experienced staff join our team this year!!!
