RE:                 YALE SCHOOL MONTHLY SCHOOL UPDATE

Apple Project Update:
Basketball hoops have arrived, and the cement is about to be poured, followed by fencing and the lining of the court area.  All is looking good, and with great help by several folks this project should be fully ready for use sometime in June.

5th graders, again, super job in being good students, involved planners with this project, and most of all TERRIFIC citizens!

Mr. H!

This month I am including text submitted for our Yale School Newsletter, which teacher Kyle Niekamp has re-initiated this year with the enthusiastic participation of his students.

They always take the time to ask me if I would like to make a submission as they ready to print:

Dear Yale Families and Friends:  As the end of our school year approaches, I'd like to share some good-byes, introductions, and thank you's:

First, Mrs. York and her family will be moving to Alaska over the summer.  We wish them well, and appreciate all the effort and various ways Mrs. York has contributed to our school the past years!  Her teaching replacement will be announced soon.

Next, "Hello" to Mrs. Asha Riley who will assume principalship of the Yale School as next fall begins.  Mrs. Riley joined our district this year as the Director of Learning, and has already spent some time at Yale and made some connections with staff, students, and families.  Mrs. Riley is energetic, smart, and terrific to work alongside - she will contribute outstanding leadership this coming year while appreciating Yale's unique needs.

Finally, thank you to all in the Yale School and Community who have supported our efforts to provide quality teaching/learning this past 12 years.  There are so many bright spots I could touch upon, but surely having the opportunity to be around folks who really care for their school (students, staff, and parents) has been the highlight.  And, with this year's Apple Award recognition, it's been really nice to see our little school recognized for "BIG" student achievement!

My congratulations and appreciation!

Mr. Houk
