SPECIAL PRESENTATION

Update on Adequate Yearly Progress

Under the No Child Left Behind Legislations many schools in the state and nation has been idenfitifed as "failing to make Adequate yearly progress (AYP)"   Three of our schools have been identified as in this AYP category.   When a school fails over multiple years to make AYP there are sanctions that escalate should the school fail to exit AYP.  The purpose of this agenda item willl be to provide the board with an overview of AYP, our school's progress toaard these benchmarks, and sanctions we can expect to occur shuld we fail to make AYP over multiple years.  As these sanctions have implications on our spending and program it is important that the board have an understanding of implications.
