RE:                 WPS MONTHLY SCHOOL UPDATE

-Finishing STRONG in our school!
It is the "busy, crazy" time of year for all in and around our schools - however, I must compliment our WPS Team for not only involving our students in really healthy experiences, but still maintaining a "Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing" approach to what we are doing!  We will teach and learn hard until the very end of school!

*Examples of "NEAT" stuff going on recently around WPS:

Wow!  What a

beautiful new mural!

Come check out the wall in the WPS Entryway!  As part of the 3rd grade study of America, Mr.Kovalenko's and Mrs. Schelnz's classes, along with other volunteers, have made a beautiful, patriotic display!  This is just another example of our

"Go Green, Get Clean" efforts to make our school a friendlier place and display our student's talents!

Woodland Primary - "Go Green, Get Clean!"

I am so proud of our school and the recent efforts students, staff, and volunteers have made to start to

"spruce up" our grounds.   G2 Orchardists donated over $3,500 worth of trees that we have planted (some were sold as a fundraiser).  Some of our front landscaping has been trimmed up, and we are readying for some fall projects that we will call on families and community to help with as we seek to model pride in our school for our students!  To all the recent efforts, I share my thanks!

*Example of some neat professional regard and recognition! (see attachment below)

Another positive piece that occurred at our school recently!

*A Feather in our Cap!
This month, a professional film crew and our friend Lisa Howard (from Read Well) were on campus to film two 45 minute segments of Read Well instruction conducted by Malinda Huddleston.  This production will be used at a major Read Well Conference being held in Portland this summer.  Mrs. Huddleston will be a guest presenter at the conference, along with the video vignettes.  These vignettes will be given to us for our training use, as well as over $5,000 of complimentary Read Well materials are being put together per our need for our school!

The lessons Malinda did were great, and being requested as a site they wanted to film at was a compliment.  Most of all, this is a testament to the system we have in place which is delivered by dedicated, and trained staff all around.  You should have heard the great appreciation Mrs. Huddleston spoke of when referring to our staff - WAY TO GO WPS TEAM!
