RE: North Fork Elementary

  • North Fork is in the process of screening all new and referred students for the Highly Capable program. We have over 80 new students and referrals, as well as, the entire kindergarten grade that will be screened. The students that screen and test into the program will start next school year. We are using a new online format of the Cogat Screener this year.
  • North Fork has added a number of clubs this school year. We currently have a club for each grade level; Lego Club, Chess Club, Art Club, Sewing Club, and Jr. Hope Squad.
  • North Fork evening conferences will be  Monday, March 28th, 4 - 7 pm, March 29th - 31st, 12 - 3:00 pm. Teachers are looking forward to meeting with families to celebrate students’ progress.
  • Our PBIS and SEL programs continue to be an important part of our school success. Monthly celebrations of important character traits, spirit days, and high expectations for student behavior set the stage for learning in the classroom. The last two months we have celebrated respect and kindness. Students also celebrated 100 school days dressing up as senior citizens.
  • Our teachers have been participating in peer observations entitled Fish Bowls. These observations enable them to learn from their peers and discuss different instructional strategies. Teachers value these days and come away with new tools in their teaching tool belt.
