RE: Columbia Elementary Board Report

2021-22 CES Enrollment:

Our student enrollment has dropped a handful of students over the last month, however, we continue to get new students weekly.

School Data Continues to Rise at Columbia:

Over the last two years, Columbia Elementary has put a huge emphasis on early literacy in the primary grades. As a school, we have dedicated additional time to literacy and foundational skills in grades K-4. Due to this dedication and narrow focus, I am excited to share that our Acadience data continues to rise.
Although we still have work to do. We are definitely headed in the right direction. I am so proud of the hard work both our staff and students are doing. It's making a difference. The goal is to keep focusing on literacy skills and add the focus on mathematics.

February 18, 2022: Professional Development

On February 18th, CES provided its teachers with a variety of professional development. The classified staff who did not attend the "Equity" training prior in the year, completed the training.
Our monolingual teachers attended a data dive, facilitated by David Starkey and Ashley Kleinschmidt. The data dive consisted of looking at our school data and identifying successes and weaknesses. We also created additional steps to continue the growth and fill the holes.
Our Spanish teachers attended professional development around their newly adopted curriculum CORE by A.R.C. The professional development was provided by the company identifying methods and strategies for teachers to utilize within their daily instruction.
