Re: May Review and June Preview

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday’s: Most of our time was once again used for department collaboration time or for our professional learning teams.  However, we will use Monday (5/23) to prepare for the Smarter Balance (SBAC) testing with teachers.

Other information: Our athletic programs had a good spring and we are sending golfers, track competitors, and our Soccer and Softball teams to the state championships.  This is in addition to our students who competed at state in SkillsUSA and Floral competitions.  In fact, our boys soccer team won their first-round game against Sequim on Wednesday, May 15th.  This was the first time our boys soccer team had won a round one state game.

State Testing: We are beginning the state testing cycle here this month.  We have the Math testing on Wednesday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 23rd. We then test again in English/Language Arts (ELA) on Wednesday, May 29th and Thursday, May 30th.   The May 30th date coincides with our 4th annual Most Valuable Parent (MVP) breakfast for our seniors and their parents.  There are also Juniors testing in ELA, Math, and Science in the midst of the sophomore testing too.

Graduation: The current plan is to hold graduation outside.  However, if the weather is inclement, like it was last year, we will go inside.  Each graduate will receive 6 tickets for the inside graduation ceremony.  We will again live stream the event on our YouTube channel with new equipment that purchased a year ago.
