Re:      WHS Report

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday’s: We used our Monday’s to prepare for state testing (proctor training for the SBAC and EOC) and department collaboration.  The other Monday was used to debrief our TPEP process and to develop our own unique examples of evidence.  Shari is creating a document which we will use to help our teachers thinking of examples for evidence.

Other information: Dan and I spent quite a bit of time this month with staff working on year-end evaluations. This always is a good time to reflect on good teaching practices and how to improve our skills. I also hope you had a chance to visit the annual plant sale at the beginning of the month.  We also finished up our “online” version of state testing for our sophomores and juniors.  The testing generally went quite well and Steve Rippl and his crew are to be commended for their efforts to make this all happen.

EOC: Although the actual exam occurred on June 7-9, we spent considerable amounts of time preparing our students for the state math and Biology End of Course exams.

And finally: We are all feeling excited about an event that just occurred.  We held our first ever Most Valuable Parent (MVP) breakfast for our seniors and their parents.  We used the late state time on Thursday, June 9th to help and encourage our seniors to honor their parents.  The event was very well attended and I am grateful to the committee who organized it. The committee members were Liz Landrigan, Dana Preston, Cindy Thoeny and Heather Gordon.
