We have many exciting events happening at Yale.
On April 22, we had a special visit from a company that uses recycling to create their cartons and packaging. The presentation showed the kids how the company recycles cartons to actually help grow new trees, and then how trees are harvested and used to create paper cartons again. At the end of the presentation, each child planted a new tree and a recyclable carton and received a special t-shirt. This was all made possible through a partnership with one of our parents who works for Graphic Packaging International.
On May 23, we are excited to host the school board for a meeting at Yale School at 5:30 p.m. That same evening we plan to celebrate a very special person in the Yale community, our long time instructional assistant, Becky Huesties, who retiring after 37 years of faithful service to the kids of Yale Elementary. We will be honoring her with a special retirement celebration at 6:00 p.m. in the Yale gym. We have invited Becky and her family as well as community members and former students.
We are looking forward to our annual trip to the Fort Vancouver Library on June 17. This year we will also have the opportunity to visit the Water Resource Center in the afternoon.
We also have a guest from the library coming to visit our kids with a special presentation that is intended to spark their interests in the summer reading program hosted by Fort Vancouver Library.
We are grateful John Huffman has once again offered to host our annual Field Day event which will take place on June 20th.
