Parent Teacher Organization:
I am pleased to announce the Yale PTO has reorganized and Brenda Nelson has stepped up to our president. The parents pulled together in time to put together a fantastic community egg hunt Easter weekend. It was a lot of work in a short period of time and our community of kids benefitted in a great deal of fun as a result. The next PTO meeting is still being scheduled but likely to take place the second or third week of April. The group will be planning end of year events.
Playground equipment: The playground structure at Yale is now quite old. It has been a sturdy structure built by our very own John Huffman many years ago. He has done a lot of work to maintain it but recently it’s needed some more significant repairs. I am grateful for the quick response of our maintenance department who has come out to immediately get it functional and safe again for students. I am also grateful for Scott Landrigan’s partnership on a potential grant that may result in a new playground structure at Yale. I believe he made a strong case for us in the grant application and I am very hopeful it will result in funds to replace our current structure. When the final grants are awarded I will let you know if we are able to proceed in selecting a structure to replace the old one. In the meantime our fabulous maintenance department is keeping what we have safe and usable for kids.
