Re:      September Review and Preview

Here is an overview of the key activities we will work on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

School Opening:  We had a great freshmen orientation and opening assembly to get the school year going.  We have 6 foreign exchange students this year coming to us from Turkey, German, Netherlands, France, Brazil and Spain. All of the students were introduced to the student body at the opening assembly as well as Grant Rodman who was reintroduced to the students after being in Siberia, Russia all last year. We have successfully rolled out our Navigation 101 grant by having our students meet in advisory during Opportunity Time the first week of school.  This was a good use of this time for the first week.  Opportunity Time officially began on Tuesday, September 8^th.  We are making a few subtle changes to the program which I can explain if necessary at the school board meeting.

Monday's: Our Monday's will be used to work on department collaboration and the annual kick off meeting with Michael and Craig.

Other information:  We have two student teachers in our building this year. Shantel Erickson will be working with Mr. Blackwelder and Travis Harwood will be paired up with Ms. Cullison and Mr. Roos.  Both student teachers are from Washington State University, Vancouver campus.  Homecoming comes quite early this year, with the event occurring on September 25^th. Set you calendar and watch from 2:20 on the 25^th if you wish to come to our annual homecoming assembly.
