REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Superintendent's Report

Superintendent Michael Green will brief the board on current school safety practices.   In addition, he will introduce the Candidate he is recommending for appointment as the new WMS Principal, Dr. Russell Evans.

Woodland Public Schools has made significant facilities improvements that all serve to protect children.   Before 2015 our buildings were accessible through multiple entrances and the access to all offices was through hallways.   Each of our comprehensive schools has access only through the offices.   We have systems that allow for immediate lockdowns of our buildings and our offices can immediately be contained from the rest of the school building.  Each classroom is lockable from the inside of the classroom.  We have monitored security cameras at the entrance of our school buildings.  Our local police department has access to our campus camera systems. We have added secure fencing around our campuses. We have a system of comprehensive risk assessments for students who show indications of violence or self-harm.   Staff and students are trained in response to active shooter situations.   We continuously reflect on our practices and make adjustments in the interest of student and staff safety.
