RE: North Fork Elementary School Update

  • Our Staff Appreciation Week was a success. The PTSA and the WEA union reps helped make the week special for all of our staff. A celebration cart went from room to room, offering cold beverages and goodies. Lunch was served as well as fancy Italian sodas on Friday. It was an honor to spoil our staff.
  • The Math Champs after-school intervention program is in its 4th week and going strong. Attendance has remained strong, and students are making growth. All of our staff, from the office to paras and teachers, have invested in this intervention and are hopeful that it is making a difference.
  • We have completed another year of our Kids at Hope Week. This is our third year participating in this program that emphasizes the importance of belief, connecting, and planning for the future of our students. Each day of the week, we focused on one area; Home and Family, Hobbies and Recreation, Education and Career, and Community and Service. Here is a short video that summarizes our week.
  • Our kindergarteners had their first field trip, and it was such a joy to see families and students together, excited about a day at the zoo. Teachers and families were so happy to be chaperoning and going with their students.
  • Every year at this time, I have the pleasure of meeting with my teachers and reviewing the year and all the growth their students have made. It is a time of celebration of all the hard work they have invested and a time to reflect on the journey. With all the challenges we have endured with Covid, you would think it would have impacted student growth, but it hasn’t. Our students and teachers have worked hard to meet their goals.
