Day One of Hybrid Learning - How did it go?

March 2nd was our first day for cohort A to be here on campus. I personally spent the entire day out of my office in classrooms and visiting with students. It was hands down, my favorite day of the year so far. Here’s what some of the staff were saying:

Everything ran smoothly for the day custodial staff. We were able to clean up quickly after lunch (teamwork!) with no problems. Students were polite and followed directions. No issues for us, a great day!

Honestly- the day was amazing. There were nuggets of normalcy.  One student started tearing up as she crossed into the room.  She said that she wasn't sure that this was going to be a reality during her senior year, and it meant a lot to her that we were able to make this happen.

Day 1 went great!

It was fun seeing my CLC students in person. That was really fun.

It was great to have seniors stopping by my room once again.

I was initially excited, but juggling 3 or 4 monitors, trying to teach online AND in person was exhausting.  The students were fine. It was nice to see them.

It felt like a lot, juggling online, in-person … I enjoyed seeing students in person, and the small classes felt nice as it was easy to engage and speak with every student in my classroom.

It might have been the best day of teaching I've had in nearly a year.  I didn't know how much I needed that.

The basic procedures for sanitation, lunchtimes, class procedures, and instruction ran smoothly throughout the day. We anticipate some challenges to emerge around assigned seating for lunches and breakfasts, managing the learning experiences for our at-home and virtual students, and, in a very few cases, mask compliance for students. On the whole, however, day one was a smashing success.
