BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING MINUTES
February 24, 2021, 6:15 p.m. Regular Meeting-Zoom Video Conference

CALL TO ORDER
President Watts called the meeting to order at 6:17 p.m.
CITIZENS REQUEST TO ADDRESS THE BOARD ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS
There were none.
REPORTS TO THE BOARD
Director Stuart inquired about Columbia Elementary enrollment increase and if there was adequate classroom space for these students with the social distancing requirements. Superintendent Green explained there is currently enough space.
Director Graham asked for clarification on the Woodland Middle School hybrid schedule and the plan for the two days that students were not attending in-person learning. Superintendent Green spoke about the developmental ability of middle school aged students to attend and participate in virtual learning for a full 6 hours school day. The middle school students can expect to have between 3 to 3 ½ hours per day of independent work on the two days they are not attending in-person learning.
BOARD REPORTS, REQUESTS, AND COMMENTS
Director Wray talked about senate bill 5147 regarding year-round school. The other directors were curious about the details, so this topic will be discussed at the next board meeting.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
#50-for-20 Scholarship Funds
Superintendent Green presented a quick overview of the scholarship funds from 2015 to now and the next steps needed to continue with this scholarship fund. Director Graham stepped up to take on the challenge of heading a committee. Director Graham will provide an update at the next board meeting. Director Guthrie also suggested that we have our communication manager, Eric Jacobson write a story about the scholarship.
Review of Draft Board Work Calendar
The board of directors created and ranked a list of important topics. Superintendent Green created a draft calendar with these topics, and the board of directors didn’t have any objections to the calendar as presented.
Format for Upcoming School Board Meetings
With the shift to Phase 2 of the State reopening framework, school boards are now allowed to gather in-person for board meetings. After some guidelines were reviewed and some discussion, the board of directors decided to take each meeting on a case-by-case basis and leave the ultimate decision for each meeting up to President Watts and Superintendent Green.
