ELL/State Transitional Bilingual Intervention Program and Translation Services

• ELPA 21: Screeners for our kindergarten students who speak a language other than English in their home were completed by our outstanding ELL paraeducators at Columbia and North Fork Elementary Schools. 

• Outreach: Two community events supported by our department, “Shop with the Cop” and the Christmas Giving Tree, are on track to be successful and fun ways to support families during the holiday season. Esmeralda and Maribel are contacting Spanish-speaking families to support these events.

• K-4 ELL: Carlotta Propersi and our K-4 ELL paraeducators are working with students in strategically assigned groups from Columbia, and North Fork Elementary Schools via Google Meets to support their language acquisition in areas that have been identified as high needs in their online language learning environment, Imagine Learning.

• WMS ELL: We have groups of ELL “bubble” students coming in 5 days a week to receive support. This intervention has contributed to many students being caught up on their classwork! WMS ELL staff are continuing to monitor current grades and missing assignments and work with students via small groups or Google Meets.

• WHS ELL: We have many diligent ELL “bubble” students who are getting A's in almost every class! We have also discovered an engaging program called Mango Languages that students are using to help improve their English. As an additional bonus, many staff are using it to help them learn a new language as well.
