RE: Columbia Elementary Board Report

  • Operation Santa Claus

      • Columbia, North Fork, and Yale Elementary are hosting an event called "Operation Santa Claus." CES will be hosting the drive-up event on Wednesday, December 16th, from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM. Every CES student will receive a new book and a candy cane. We will have Santa Clause along with Christmas lights, music, etc. There will also be an opportunity to take a picture with Saint Nick, at 6 ft away, for any student who would like to. The goal is to provide some fun holiday spirit and lift the spirits of our students and families.

  • "Battle of the Schools" Clothing Drive

      • The CES Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) team has generated a monthly staff event for each month of the school year. November's staff event was turkey bowling. For December, we as a school decided to challenge the other schools within the district in a clothing drive. For this event, CES has partnered up with the Woodland Rotary club. We are accepting new coats, gloves, socks, hats, and hygiene products. The school that collects the most pounds of clothing wins the challenge. The goal behind the "battle of the schools" was to help and support local families in need.

  • CES Internet Cafe

      • Due to students in grades 2nd - 4th being virtual, we at CES have been working on finding opportunities that allow students who need additional academic support to participate in their virtual lessons from the school building. Darcy Soto and other CES staff members have spent countless hours working on the logistics to make this happen. We currently have 10 kids who attend our "internet cafe." All internet cafe students receive all their virtual instruction physically at CES. As we continue to improve this model, the goal is to bring in additional students who need it.

  • CES School Spirit Days

      • To keep the fun and morale up among both students and staff CES will be having a couple of spirit/dress-up days over the next week.
