RE: Athletics Report

Woodland Middle School

The middle school sports seasons have once again been revised – with a proposed February 1st start date. If things get pushed back any further, it will be really difficult to have 3 seasons. Here are the latest season projections:

  • Winter 1 - (Feb. 1 – March 7) Girls Basketball and Wrestling
  • Winter 2 – (March 15 – April 25) Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Boys Golf, and Girls Soccer
  • Spring – (April 26 - May 28) Track, Boys Basketball, and Girls Golf

This will be revisited when we return from winter break.

Woodland High School

The high school seasons have also been revised and will now have a February 1st start date. Same as middle school… any more delays and it will be really difficult to have 3 seasons. Here are the latest season projections:

  • Winter 1 – (Feb. 1 – March 21) Boys/Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Cheer, and Dance
  • Winter 2 – (March 15 – May 2) Volleyball, Cross Country, Football, Girls Soccer, and Boys Golf
  • Spring – (April 26 – June 13) Fastpitch, Baseball, Track, Girls Golf, and Boys Soccer

Other

  1. The WIAA plans to make a decision on the February 1st start date in early January.
  2. We have purchased a new camera for the main gym that will allow us to live stream games to fans automatically. The camera has been installed. Testing of the system should be able to take place next week.
  3. The plan is to provide live streaming free of charge to anyone – with the option to donate if they please.
  4. We will be implementing ticketless entry to the games. We are in the process of setting that up on our athletic page.
  5. Our athletic program history and hall of fame are in the process of being digitized. There will be both website access and a touchscreen in the gym lobby available for people to access the history of our sports.
  6. We just finished taking a 2nd group of coaches through the 3D Transformational Coach Course. It was a fantastic group that left the course excited to implement some new strategies. Another valuable part of this course was the weekly collaboration – something that has been more challenging due to covid.
