RE: Yale Report

Yale Elementary is happy, healthy and ready to serve each of our students. Yale Elementary has a new schedule which provides several positive changes for students and staff. Before reworking the schedule the goals included; consistent prep time for classroom teachers, a consistent reading intervention block 4 days per week that utilizes each staff member, and adequate ELA and math instructional time for each grade level.

There are two new curricula that we have this year.  The new mathematics curriculum and Handwriting Without Tears (cursive version) for 3rd grade.

We held our annual before school open house and more than half of our families showed up. We hosted the kindergarten families for the first hour to ensure they had individualized attention. Kids were excited and families were happy.

The staff will begin working next week to dig into our Smarter Balanced Assessment results from last Spring to identify areas of strength and growth.

Unfortunately, The Yale garden will be coming to a close. The volunteers are no longer able to help keep the garden up year-round. We will be asking for volunteers and hope for the best. If we can’t find helpers we will repurpose that space.
