By adoption of Resolution 19-1, the school board will authorize the superintendent to proceed with the sale of two parcels of property in Cougar, Washington to PacifiCorp. The property exists largely within the flowage area of Yale Lake, which the BPA requires PacifiCorp to maintain through ownership or easement.
The property was sold to a predecessor School District, School District #67, in 1910 for $1 and has transferred through consolidation of school districts to Woodland. (in 1910 Washington had 2710 school districts, today there are 295). Because of its location and size, the property is unusable for school district purposes and was therefore declared surplus property by Resolution 18-09 on November 26.
The purchase and sale agreement is in the final stages of review by both PacifiCorp and our Attorney. It is anticipated that the resolution will be updated to reflect the final purchase and sale agreement on or before Monday's board meeting
The property has been appraised and PacifiCorp has agreed to pay the appraised value for the property.
